Who we are

The Adam Bell Foundation.

The Adam Bell Foundation is a charity set up in memory of the musician Adam Bell.

Adam, 34, was a gifted musician, composer and teacher.

Like most men his age, Adam rarely visited the doctor and did not have any health concerns. He led a healthy and active lifestyle.

Adam suddenly fell ill, complaining of stomach pains and nausea. His doctor conducted a house-call and incorrectly diagnosed his condition as a virus. The next day Adam felt worse but believed he had a virus so thought there was no cause for alarm. Adam tragically died alone the following day.

Post-mortem results revealed that Adam had died from Ketoacidosis, a complication of undiagnosed diabetes type 1. If he had been taken to hospital when the doctor saw him, Adam would have survived and led a normal life.

Adam’s untimely and entirely avoidable death has ruptured the lives of those closest to him.

Those of us left behind are committed via the Adam Bell Foundation to:

  • Build awareness of the symptoms of diabetes (particularly amongst young people who hardly ever visit the doctor)
  • Raise consciousness of the severity of diabetes as a potential sudden death killer
  • Support music development projects in the community
  • Extend access to music
